Students may require alternatives based on specific needs or functional limitations to be successful in their studies. Hogeschooltaal offers various possibilities for students with disabilities, such as dyslexia or chronic illness.
- Extended Exam Time
It is possible to add extra time to the regular test time. When scheduling the test, you can add extra test time in step 3.
We apply a standard extension of 20 minutes for all Hogeschooltaal tests.
For more information on requesting an exam, please refer to the article 'How do I schedule a test myself?'
- Enlarged Screen
For each test, it is possible to enlarge the text on the screen. This can be manually adjusted in the browser settings.
- Paper-based Exam
Students entitled to it can take the Hogeschooltaal exam on paper.
If you wish to have a paper version of the exam, please let us know at step 5. We will send the exam in a Word document. This exam can be printed in an enlarged format if desired. The student completes the exam entirely on paper and submits it to the inviligator afterward. Then, we kindly ask you to email us the scanned exam. We will review it and send the student's results. The results will also appear in the student's account. Just like other students, they will have 24-hour access to the test review. We will inform the student accordingly.
- Text-to-Speech Program
For students with disabilities, it is possible to have the test read aloud using a text-to-speech program such as Claroread or Kurzweil. Request this at step 5 when scheduling the test. We can provide the Hogeschooltaaltest so that it can be entered into the text-to-speech program. For more information on using a text-to-speech program, please refer to 'Can the Hogeschooltaal test be read aloud?'
- Werkwoordspelling Algoritmekaart
Students with documented learning disabilities or dyslexia can use our 'Algortimekaart' during official exam sessions. These students are still entitled to a Hogeschooltaal certificate.
- Adjust the standardisation
As an institution, you can apply an adjusted standardisation. Our standard standardisation is 80%, but for these students, a lower standardisation can be applied.
A separate test must be scheduled for these students. In step 4 of scheduling the test, you can choose additional options. If you want to apply a different standardisation than 80%, check 'adjust standardisation' and enter the desired one. This applies to both verb spelling and the total result. Note: If you apply a different standardisation than the established Hogeschooltaal norm, only students who meet the 80% standardisation of Hogeschooltaal will be eligible for a certificate.
- Extra Test Session
If desired, an additional formative test session can be scheduled for students who require extra support. The test can be taken under the guidance of a teacher/coach. Since the test is administered in the official test environment, the student will gain a good understanding of the test process and content. Afterward, the test content can be discussed with the student.
- Tests via ProctorExam
Usually, during a test via ProctorExam, students are not allowed to go to the restroom, eat, or use pen and paper. If a student is entitled to such accommodations, for example due to medical reasons, please let us know. We will take this into consideration when reviewing and sharing the test footage.
If you feel that a specific alterntaive is missing or if you have questions about all the options, please let us know. We would be happy to assist you.
