To prevent fraud, formative and summative Hogeschooltaal tests are secured by having students agree to a set of conditions at the start of the test.
If the predefined security conditions are violated, a notification of possible fraud appears in the student monitoring system for the respective student after the test. After the test, you can check the fraud notifications. To do this, go to the 'Test Results' button and then click on 'Fraudlogs'. Under the 'Possible Fraud' section, you can see if any fraud notifications have been detected. This does not automatically mean that fraud has actually occurred, but that further investigation is required.
The following notifications may appear:
-
Deviating IP Address: This notification indicates that a student used a different internet connection than other students or worked in a different location. For example, the student may have taken the test on a Wi-Fi network or used a hotspot, while other students used a fixed computer. However, to rule out that the student took the test in a different location (without supervision), it's recommended to check if this student is on the attendance list. If the student is on the attendance list, there is no fraud involved.
-
Mouse Moves out of Screen: The student moved their mouse outside the test window. This notification appears if the student, for example, moved their mouse too far to the side, closed a pop-up, or visited another website. For this notification, consider the following:
- How long was the mouse outside the test window? If the student only left the screen for a few seconds, it was likely accidental and probably not fraud.
- How often did the mouse move outside the test window? If this happens multiple times, lasting more than 10 seconds each time, it's noteworthy. In such cases, it's advised to check with the proctor and/or the student to understand the cause.
-
Test out of Fullscreen Mode: The student minimized or closed the test window. This could result from a network (internet) issue or visiting another website. Check how long this interruption lasted. If it was a one-time interruption of a few seconds, there's probably no intent or fraud. If the interruption lasted longer or happened repeatedly, it's recommended to discuss with the proctor and/or the student to understand any peculiarities during testing.
If in doubt, you can always contact our supportteam. We are happy to assist and provide advice.
Has fraud Been detected? In case of fraud, results can be declared invalid. The results will no longer be included in cumulative calculations. To do this, go to the 'Test Results' button, find the student, click on the arrow next to the student, and then click the 'make the test invalid' button. The result and any certificate will be removed from the student's account. Under test results, you will now see the text 'Test Invalidated'.
No Fraud Detected? You can then link the certificates to the accounts of the successful students. To do this, click on the 'Assign Certificates' button. Students can then download the certificate in their account.
